About
Jackson's
Theatre
The Cozy Theatre, built in 1935, is a historical landmark that has played an important role in the world of Rock and Roll and movies.
In the early 1970s, the Cozy Theatre was operated by Jefferson Amusements, but in the early 1980s, it was transformed into the Gladewater Opry. Jackson Foltyn purchased this treasure with a long-term vision in mind. His goal was to provide the community with something they could be proud of and call their own. Foltyn had ideas for developers to be interested in building hotels and restaurants, which would lead to a resurgence of Gladewater, making it a more vibrant and prosperous city
Some of the greatest musicians and performers of all time have graced its stage, including Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Tina Turner, and many others. As a result, the Cozy Theatre quickly became a cornerstone for live theatre and music and earned its place in the history books as the “house that the king built.”
